Head of Finance - Cinnamon Red

JOB PURPOSE / KEY DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

The purpose of this role is to be responsible for the Finance functions of the Company. Assess effectiveness of system procedures and refine processes and identify potential second tier leadership and provide opportunities for career development with the objective to ensure sound and efficient financial management of the property within statutory and legal guidelines of Sri Lanka, John Keells Group and Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts.

 

  • Calculate/Review product costing, breakeven analysis, price increases, make or buy decisions.
  • Supervise/review preparation of monthly accounts, quarterly accounts & year end accounts.
  • Review all financial statements, circulation of quarterly financial statements, preparation of financial pages for board pack and attending audit committee meetings in order to meet the statutory and audit committee requirements.
  • Involve in the decision-making process where decisions have a monetary impact.
  • Liaise with External/Internal Auditors.
  • Review Audit Reports.
  • Formulate guidelines for preparation of Budgets/Forecasts for the Finance Staff.
  • Approve Purchase orders relating to imports & Capital Expenditure, Sign cheques.
  • Carrying out feasibility studies and constructing pre/post Pre-opening balance sheets for new initiatives in order to ascertain the viability of the investment to achieve group profit targets.
  • Identify training & development needs of Finance Staff and to take action to meet these requirements.
  • Maintain good Financial, Cost Accounting & Internal Control Processes.
  • Prepare project viability and sensitivity analyses.
  • Analyze performance and identify gaps.
  • Evaluate available options and implement corrective action to bridge performance gaps.
  • Overlook to all Operations/Management meetings for updates on daily/weekly/monthly To-do's.
  • Administer internal policies and processes to be in line with JKH Group policies. 
  • Establish working relationship with JKIT for smooth execution & resolution of concerns.
  • Monitor daily/weekly/monthly IT checklist, with follow up and timely execution of plans.
  • Maintain a cost-conscious mindset.
  • Manage and train the IT team of Cinnamon life to be proficient in handling guest/internal staff requests.
  • Initiate end to end Procurement/ Receiving/Stores processes.
  • Work closely with other HODs, Managers and relavent parties to ensure effective day to date operations.
  • Verifying the sourcing/clearance of FF&E and OS&E.
  • Highlighting escalations/high level issues for further action.
  • Establishing relationships with the team for operational requirements

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

 

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
  • A master's degree in accounting or a relevant certification may be preferred.
  • Member of a recognized accounting body.
  • Decision taking and problem solving.
  • Knowledge on Accounting standards (Sri Lanka/ International).
  • Knowledge on various tax laws, Companies Act, SEC and other regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge on risk management, Internal control processes & assurance procedures.
  • Strategic ability and sound business judgment.
  • Communicates Effectively.

  • More than 6 -8 years of financial and management experience in an up-scale hospitality environment.
