Night Manager
Job Responsibilities
The Night Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and coordinating hotel or resort operations during night hours. This position ensures smooth day-to-day continuity of operations, delivers exceptional guest experiences, maintains operational standards, and supports the achievement of the property’s business objectives through effective supervision, problem resolution, and compliance with established procedures.
- Ensure exceptional guest experiences during night operations by maintaining high service standards and responding promptly to guest feedback, complaints, and concerns.
- Oversee front-of-house night operations, including check-in/check-out procedures, concierge services, and guest assistance.
- Address guest complaints professionally, ensuring guest satisfaction and loyalty.
- Supervise, motivate, and support night-shift staff across departments, including front office, housekeeping, security, and food & beverage where applicable.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels during night operations.
- Conduct performance monitoring, provide feedback, and report staff performance issues to relevant department heads or management.
- Act as a role model and promote teamwork and service excellence.
- Monitor room occupancy, night audit processes, and pricing accuracy to support revenue optimization.
- Conduct night audits and ensure accurate financial reporting, including daily revenue, cash handling, and system reconciliation.
- Identify operational discrepancies and implement corrective actions or escalate issues as required.
- Ensure the property is safe, secure, well-maintained, and compliant with health, safety, and security regulations during night hours.
- Oversee housekeeping and maintenance activities scheduled during the night to maintain cleanliness and functionality.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and security standards, including emergency procedures.
- Act as the primary point of contact during emergencies and implement emergency response and evacuation procedures when necessary.
- Prepare and submit night reports covering occupancy, revenue, incidents, guest feedback, and operational issues.
- Use data and reports to identify trends and support informed decision-making.
- Liaise with department heads and management to ensure smooth handover to the morning shift.
- Support sustainability initiatives such as energy conservation and waste reduction during night operations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant hospitality laws, regulations, and company standards
Person Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Hotel Administration, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Relevant hospitality or hotel management certifications will be an added advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of guest service operations.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to anticipate risks and resolve issues proactively.
- Computer literacy, including hotel management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage night-shift responsibilities.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proven experience in leading teams within a hotel or resort environment, including staff supervision and performance management.
