Senior Executive - Health, Safety & Environment

Job Responsibilities

•Executing Occupational health, safety and environment strategies; Developing internal policy; Carrying out risk assessment and considering how risks could be reduced.

•Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards, coordinating with managers and staff to eliminate unsafe situations.

•Keep up to date on new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all health and safety legislation in order to provide a safe working environment.

•Assist to plan practical and effective methods, both preventive and remedial, of promoting safe work conditions.

•Make required changes to work practices to ensure they are safe and complying with legislation.

•Liaising with regulatory bodies to ensure the company is compliant with mandatory regulations in order to maintain a safe work environment.

•Plan & implement in-house & external training for all employees on health and safety practices, system, issues, risks and controls.

•Organize health and safety workshops with external consultants to create awareness of the importance of health and safety amongst the staff of the factory.

•Promoting HSE achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization.

•Setting HSE compliance objectives and ensuring that targets are achieved.

•Ensuring compliance with relevant standards and legislation; Defining HS procedures in conjunction with operating staff.

•Setting up and maintaining controls and documentation procedures; Identifying relevant HSE-related training needs and delivering training; Collating and analyzing performance data and charts against defined parameters.

•Timely reporting of HSE & sustainability performance.

•Documentation & Implementation of factory wide business continuity plan.

Person Specifications

• Degree in Science or equivalent/National Diploma in Technology or Equivalent with 3 years’ experience in managing the health and safety role in a large-scale Consumer Foods Manufacturing environment and Lead auditor certification in Health & Safety inclusive of OSHAS (Occupational Safety Health & Standards) certification.
• Business understanding in Food and beverage manufacturing operations & Occupational Health and safety and Best Practices.
• Sound knowledge of Manufacturing and Engineering knowledge in consumer food operation, Continuous improvement methodology, OHS Standards and related regulatory requirements, Industrial Relations Legislation, Environment legislation.
