The Colombo Ice Company Limited (CICL), manufacturer of Elephant House Ice Creams is a leading consumer food company in Sri Lanka. CICL is a subsidiary of John Keells Holdings PLC.

 

The company is seeking a suitable candidate to fill the position of Executive - Learning & Development. This role is responsible for coaching, training, and developing field sales frontliners to enhance their knowledge, skills, and performance. By delivering structured learning interventions and on-the-job coaching, this role aims to strengthen sales execution capabilities, leading to improved executional KPIs and the achievement of sales objectives in the assigned territory/area.

In addition, this role ensures that all sales team members understand and complete required HR-related processes and actions, by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and tools to comply with company policies and procedures. Ultimately, the role supports building a high-performing, skilled, and engaged sales force that drives business growth and operational excellence.

Job Responsibilities

  • Guide and coach both company and dealer field sales staff to strengthen their skills, knowledge, and performance.
  • Provide constructive, actionable feedback to help individuals and teams achieve their sales execution KPIs.
  • Track and evaluate the effectiveness of field coaching initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and consistent delivery of results.
  • Execute field training interventions provided by the category team, ensuring alignment with organizational strategies and goals.
  • Monitor, track, and follow up on the completion of e-learning modules to reinforce knowledge and skill development among field staff.
  • Optimize training materials and tools, ensuring they are effectively utilized to maximize learning impact.
  • Regularly assess field execution standards, identifying gaps and development needs.
  • Collaborate with the sales leadership team to create action plans that address performance challenges and improve frontline execution.
  • Provide periodic reports and insights into coaching effectiveness and team progress.
  • Ensure all field sales team members complete HR-related processes such as Performance Management System (PMS) reviews and ILearn modules on time.
  • Provide the necessary knowledge and guidance to field staff to provide compliance and understanding of HR policies and procedures.
  • Act as a link between the HR team and the field sales team to facilitate smooth execution of people-related initiatives.

Person Specifications

  • Extensive experience in field sales staff Training and development within the FMCG industry, with proven expertise in field sales coaching, training delivery.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Management / Marketing / Art or Sales is an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills, business acumen, and proficiency in MS Office support effective training alignment with business objectives. Flexibility to work in both office (10%) and field (90%) environments ensures seamless collaboration and goal achievement.
  • Sound knowledge in Field sales management and Training & development.
  • leadership & Coaching, Interpersonal Skill, Technical proficiency, Proven language skills in Sinhala and English/Tamil, Proficiency in MS Office, Strong analytical skills and business acumen
