DATA Governance Lead
Ceylon Cold Stores PLC (CCS), manufacturer of Elephant House Soft Drinks and Ice Creams is a leading consumer food company in Sri Lanka. CCS is a subsidiary of John Keells Holdings PLC.
The company is seeking a suitable candidate to fill the position of Data Governance Lead. This position exists to oversee and manage Sector data protection and privacy strategies in accordance with relevant regulations and industry best practices. Responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures in line with JKH policies and related statutes and implementing strategies to safeguard data and information in our sector.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation and compliance of data protection regulations like PDPA and GDPR across CFS operations and supply chains.
- Continuously update policies to meet evolving regulatory requirements specific to the CF sector.
- Implement security measures to protect the personal data of employees, distributors, retail partners, and customers against unauthorized access and misuse.
- Promote CFS-relevant best practices such as encryption and anonymization tailored to large-scale data processing.
- Lead the incident response process for data breaches within supply chain operations, ensuring timely coordination with regulatory bodies like the Data Protection Authority (DPA).
- Conduct audits and risk assessments tailored to CFS systems, including inventory and logistics management platforms.
- Develop protocols for early detection of risks, particularly in high-volume data environments like retail networks.
- Provide insights and policy recommendations specific to CFS data governance frameworks.
- Design training programs targeting employees, distributors, and retail partners, focusing on CFS-specific data protection scenarios.
- Partner with HR teams to embed data protection into onboarding and induction programs across the CFS workforce.
- Develop data classification standards suited to the CF sector, addressing sensitive operational, supply chain, and customer data.
- Collaborate with business units to annually review and update the Data Asset Registry, ensuring alignment with CFS operational dynamics.
- Maintain an inventory of approved applications and systems used in CFS operations, from logistics tracking to sales reporting tools.
- Ensure all vendor contracts for new system procurements incorporate CFS-specific data protection requirements.
Person Specifications
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Information Technology, Law, Data Management, or a related field.
- Experience in data governance, risk management, and policy development tailored to the high-paced CFS and 4-6 years experience in a similar capacity.
- Preferably having experience in handling the same scope in FMCG, Manufacturing or related industry with in-depth knowledge of data protection laws and regulations.
- Sound Knowledge of FMCG and manufacturing processes, data flows, and industry-specific information security practices. In-depth understanding of data protection laws like PDPA and GDPR, with practical application within the CF and manufacturing sectors.
- Demonstrate strong business acumen, analytical and innovative thinking. Excellent communication skills, adaptability, negotiation, decision-making, problem-solving, organizational skills, attention to detail, Prioritize tasks, and Manage multiple projects simultaneously in dynamic environments.
