Ceylon Cold Stores PLC (CCS), manufacturer of Elephant House Beverages and Ice Creams is a leading consumer food company in Sri Lanka. CCS is a subsidiary of John Keells Holdings PLC.
The company is seeking a suitable candidate to fill the position of Manager Legal - Consumer Foods Industry Group. The position exists to entail legal and notarial functions and ensure the Consumer Foods Sector functions within the defined legal and ethical standards in achieving its business goals. The selected candidate will be in charge of all legal aspects relating to the CF sector, This includes contractual work relating to new projects in the CF sector ,drafting checking and completion of all new/renewal agreements for the sector, liaising with JKH group legal on all legal related activities and updating the sector with any new legal developments in the country and the group, attend to the on-going legal cases in the sector, in charge of Intellectual property rights of the sector , auditing of all exiting legal documents of the sector identifying the gaps and correcting those.
Job Responsibilities
- Drafting / reviewing and negotiating all types of commercial contracts and related documentation.
- Initiate/support the business to ensure that the business operates in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinating /assisting in litigation related matters as when required.
- Handle conveyancing and notarial work, including carrying out title searches, drafting and attesting of title deeds and documents.
Person Specifications
- Being an Attorney at Law and Notary Public with a license to practice in Colombo (holding a Degree in Law or other professional qualification would be considered as an added advantage).
- Have 2-5 years’ working experience in the above-mentioned areas with a minimum of 2 to 3 years’ post qualifying experience.
- Broad understanding of the operational, financial & legal behaviour of a manufacturing sector.
- Knowledge in legal framework applicable to Consumer Foods Sector business operations.
- Decision Taking & Problem-Solving Skills, negotiation skills, Initiative and follow through policies, work under pressure, Excellent communication skills, presentation and negotiation skills.
