Ceylon Cold Stores PLC (CCS), manufacturer of Elephant House Beverages and Ice Creams is a leading consumer food company in Sri Lanka. CCS is a subsidiary of John Keells Holdings PLC.

 

The company is seeking a suitable candidate to fill the position of Shift Manager - New Project - Consumer Foods Sector. This position is responsible for leading and executing restaurant operations during assigned shifts, ensuring excellence across People, Customer Experience, Operations, and Sales/Profit. This role ensures consistent delivery of brand standards, operational efficiency, food safety compliance, and a high-performing team environment.

 

Job Responsibilities

Lead and manage day-to-day operations during assigned shifts as the Leader on Duty, ensuring smooth coordination across kitchen, service, and delivery. Conduct pre-shift and post-shift walk-throughs to ensure readiness for opening, closing, and peak periods. Monitor workflow, speed of service, and order accuracy while executing shift activities in line with the Daily Operating Plan (DOP) and company SOPs.

Drive a high standard of customer service by ensuring fast, friendly, and quality service at all times. Monitor key service metrics such as speed, accuracy, and hospitality. Handle customer complaints professionally, ensure timely resolution, and follow up on Voice of Customer (VOC) feedback to enhance satisfaction and loyalty. Maintain a clean, welcoming, and customer-ready environment.

Supervise, coach, and motivate team members and Team Trainers during shifts. Conduct team huddles to communicate goals, priorities, and expectations. Allocate tasks effectively based on business demand and staffing levels, while supporting onboarding and on-the-job training, especially in food safety and service standards. Ensure adherence to attendance, discipline, and grooming standards, fostering a positive work culture that drives engagement and retention.

Ensure strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards. Monitor product preparation, storage, and handling to meet brand quality expectations. Reinforce food safety procedures and ensure readiness for audits and operational checks.

Support achievement of sales targets and shift KPIs by promoting upselling, combo deals, and new menu items. Optimize labor deployment to balance service quality with cost efficiency, while controlling costs related to food waste, labor, and utilities to contribute to overall profitability.

Act as Cash Manager when required, ensuring accurate register setup, billing, and end-of-shift reconciliation. Monitor stock levels, coordinate replenishment, and prevent shortages or overstocking.

Ensure compliance with company policies, SOPs, and legal requirements while maintaining cleanliness, safety, and maintenance standards. Support internal audits and contribute to operational excellence by creating a safe, efficient, and professional environment for both customers and employees.

Person Specifications

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in QSR, Restaurant or Operations.

At least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role

Previous shift leadership experience preferred

Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards

Strong leadership and team management skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Customer-focused mindset with a passion for service excellence

Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

High level of accountability and execution discipline

Ability to follow up and ensure timely resolution of VOC issues
