Ceylon Cold Stores PLC (CCS), manufacturer of Elephant House Soft Drinks and Ice Creams is a leading consumer food company in Sri Lanka. CCS is a subsidiary of John Keells Holdings PLC.
The company is seeking a suitable candidate to fill the position of Assistant Manager – Product Development. The position exists to ensure that ingredients, formulations are continuously evaluated and confirm that it meets the consumers and product requirements, Coordinate and work closely with the Marketing team to ensure regular development of new products to cater market demands and changing external requirements, assist maintaining consistent quality in all new products developed with the objective of maintaining current and future products meet consumer expectations.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensuring product development process is properly maintained and deliver the required products to meet customer/consumer expectations
- Identify product improvements through extensive research to ensure products cater the market and consumer’s current and future requirements
- Liaise with food regulatory authorities, international food organizations and various business partners to ensure that the best and the most appropriate systems, processes and ingredients are used and work closely with them to understand emerging trends and adopt best practices to develop/deliver products to delight consumers.
- Monitoring and ensuring external analysis of products and ingredients are carried out as required.
- Annual budget planning with respect to frozen confectionary and related projects and infrastructure management.
Person Specifications
- Degree in food science or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in similar capacity in an R & D department of a large scale FMCG business.
- Business understanding in the critical processes involved in Manufacturing Operations, Reasonable understanding on competitive business environment.
- Sound knowledge on Ice cream product development together with R & D, Production systems, quality standards and systems, factory ordinance, food regulations / standards, food safety standards, health and environmental safety systems, financial knowledge, modern process technology.
- Planning and organizing skills, communication and interpersonal skills, leadership and motivational skills, 'innovative' and positive mind-set, Ability to quickly adapt to changing business requirements.
