Senior Executive – Learning and Development

Location: The role will be based between Keells Food Products PLC – Ekala and the Ceylon Cold Stores PLC Head Office – Colombo, with travel required across the Consumer Foods sector sites as per business needs.

 

Purpose of the Role

 

To support enhancing skills, knowledge and competencies across the entire Consumer Foods sector. It partners with all business units by executing learning initiatives that align with business goals, strengthen performance, and enhance the overall employee experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the L&D Manager in coordinating with business leaders to gather input and data for Training Need Analysis. Coordinate with internal and external trainers to schedule sessions, prepare materials, and gather feedback for program refinement.
  • Provide administrative support in tracking training expenses and compiling data for the annual training budget, including compliance-related programs.
  • Help organize and monitor the execution of the Annual Learning & Development Plan, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and timely delivery of training sessions.
  • Manage pre-and post-training surveys, compile evaluation reports, and share insights with the L&D Manager for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of training activities and assist in preparing quarterly L&D reports and dashboards.
  • Assist in scheduling, tracking, and communicating key milestones during performance review cycles to ensure smooth execution.
  • Organize onboarding sessions, prepare induction materials, and support cultural integration efforts for new employees.
  • Administer the Learning Management System [LMS] by uploading content, enrolling users, and troubleshooting access issues.
  • Help implement initiatives under the Modern Trade Learning Academy, focusing on learner communication, session logistics, and feedback collection to enhance engagement.
  • Assist with general HR tasks as needed, contributing to team flexibility and operational efficiency.

Person Specifications

  • Bachelor’s degree / Professional Qualification in Human Resources, Business Management, Psychology, or a related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in Learning & Development or HR operations — preferably in FMCG or a fast-paced corporate environment.
  • Proficiency in managing LMS platforms and driving e-learning initiatives.
  • Understanding performance management cycles and
  • Effective in building strong relationships with stakeholders to support seamless execution of L&D initiatives.
  • Organizational skills, including planning, logistics, and data management for L&D reporting.
  • Confidence in budgeting and aligning training spend on business priorities.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills—with sensitivity to cultural nuances and audience diversity.
  • Adaptability and initiative to support HR operations on a need basis
