           Head of Modern Trade

 

Ceylon Cold Stores PLC (CCS), manufacturer of Elephant House Beverages and Ice Creams is a leading consumer food company in Sri Lanka. CCS is a subsidiary of John Keells Holdings PLC.

 

The company is seeking a suitable candidate to fill the position of Head of Modern Trade. The position is responsible for Developing medium term to Long term Strategic Channel plans for Modern Trade, SMMT and E-commerce in consultation with the respective category leaders, Align the MT strategy maxing the mix/MDM/market share gain and best in service, Develop & implement Joint Business Plan for the chain in-line with the overall Modern Trade strategies & Customer’s Business Mission to win the “Hearts & Pockets” of our customers.

Job Responsibilities

Develop and deliver medium- to long-term Strategic Channel Plans for Modern Trade, SMMT, and E-commerce in consultation with respective Category Leaders.

Plan and implement Modern Trade strategies aligned with maximizing mix, MDM, market share growth, and delivering best-in-class service.

Develop and execute Joint Business Plans with key retail chains in line with overall Modern Trade strategy and customer business missions to win the hearts and pockets of consumers.

Implement merchandising objectives for John Keells Foods categories and monitor performance while ensuring agreed channel profitability.

Negotiate and close deals at multiple levels within customer organizations, strengthening strategic influence and leveraging brand power.

Monitor customer financial stability to ensure on-time, in-full (OTIF) payments.

Track payment flows from CCS/KFP to customers to ensure timely settlements.

Develop and implement Customer Marketing Plans aligned with company strategy.

Plan and execute marketing activities through customer collaboration to enhance brand presence.

Generate and gather shopper insights to strengthen channel and customer marketing strategies.

Maintain regular communication with customers on Availability, Visibility, Assortment, and Merchandising (AVAM) to ensure strong shelf and online presence across all brands.

Continuously monitor competitor activities and marketplace behaviors to stay ahead of trends.

Coordinate with Category Operations Managers to ensure successful execution of national launches and relaunches in Modern Trade.

Implement outlet, cluster, and chain-level marketing activities and evaluate performance through ROI analysis. 

 

 

Person Specifications

Minimum 5–8 years of experience in Senior Customer Management in Modern Trade.

CIM qualification and/or a recognized University Degree.

Exposure to Customer Marketing across other channels or industries will be an added advantage.

Strong knowledge and capability in analyzing new market trends and customer insights.
