What you need to do
- Identify requirements in the relevant categories and related product variants for importing.
- Reach out to international suppliers including manufacturers and consolidators.
- Evaluate suppliers based on import criteria.
- Coordinate with category managers to select related products.
- Obtain samples for testing purposes.
- Evaluate the product pricing and margins to ensure alignment with the category’s requirement.
- Carry out all related pre-shipment work on products selected for importing.
- Negotiate with international suppliers.
- Work to ensure that the direct import business delivers a profit each month.
- Prepare the direct import dashboard.
- Ensure wastages related to high-risk items are maintained.
What you need
- Should possess or be currently completing a Degree in Logistics, International Trade, International Business.
- Minimum 1 years’ work experience would be an added advantage.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrated aptitude in effective negotiation.
- Up to speed with buying best-practices.
- Familiarity with market research, data analysis and forecasting techniques.
- Familiarity in working with the customs and the logistics sector.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office.
