Extension Officer

Job Responsibilities

  • Introduce new farmers to the collection center.
  • Engage in agricultural activities and meet with farmers and government organizations to stay updated on the latest agricultural technologies to ensure vegetables and fruits are properly grown.
  • Encourage current farmers to improve their crop harvest and quality.
  • Ensure sustainability and consistency of the quality and availability of fruits and vegetables.
  • Visit agricultural sites and maintain documentation.
  • Identify new sourcing locations and products that can be sold in supermarkets.
  • Work closely with farmers.
  • Communicate the current condition of products to the collection center team.
  • Identify current issues, future risks, and opportunities, and inform the Head Office team.
  • Conduct required farmer training programs.
  • Conduct quality-related training programmes for collection center staff.
  • Lead relevant agricultural projects while monitoring and documenting progress.
  • Ensure stock maintenance for agricultural projects.

Person Specifications

  • Diploma in Agriculture with sound technical knowledge and management skills, or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • Minimum 1–2 years' work experience in a similar capacity.
  • Good communication skills in English, Sinhala, and Tamil.
  • Knowledge of the internal and external environments of the agriculture industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent task prioritization, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
