Extension Officer
Job Responsibilities
- Introduce new farmers to the collection center.
- Engage in agricultural activities and meet with farmers and government organizations to stay updated on the latest agricultural technologies to ensure vegetables and fruits are properly grown.
- Encourage current farmers to improve their crop harvest and quality.
- Ensure sustainability and consistency of the quality and availability of fruits and vegetables.
- Visit agricultural sites and maintain documentation.
- Identify new sourcing locations and products that can be sold in supermarkets.
- Work closely with farmers.
- Communicate the current condition of products to the collection center team.
- Identify current issues, future risks, and opportunities, and inform the Head Office team.
- Conduct required farmer training programs.
- Conduct quality-related training programmes for collection center staff.
- Lead relevant agricultural projects while monitoring and documenting progress.
- Ensure stock maintenance for agricultural projects.
Person Specifications
- Diploma in Agriculture with sound technical knowledge and management skills, or an equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum 1–2 years' work experience in a similar capacity.
- Good communication skills in English, Sinhala, and Tamil.
- Knowledge of the internal and external environments of the agriculture industry.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent task prioritization, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
