The Company manufactures a range of sausages, meatballs, hams, crumbed products, and soya range products under the “Elephant House” and “Keells Krest” brands.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engineering strategies to enhance operational efficiency across both factories (Ekala/Pannala)
  • Lead engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Oversee the repair and maintenance budget for both factories, ensuring costs are maintained within the approved budget
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, including KAIZEN and 5S methodologies, to optimize resources and reduce waste
  • Initiate, plan, and execute capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects across both factories on time and within budget, achieving a 100% completion ratio
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance schedules
  • Promote a culture of safety within the engineering team, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety standards

Person Specifications

  • B.Sc. in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical) or equivalent with additional certifications in relevant fields
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in engineering management within the food manufacturing industry, with a proven track record of leading engineering teams and managing complex projects
  • Strong knowledge of plant equipment maintenance, including production machinery, generators, boilers, chillers, and waste treatment systems.
  • Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices and ISO standards to ensure compliance and enhance quality and safety in engineering operations
  • Experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles and practices to enhance operational efficiency
