The Job

The position will entail handling legal work including notarial work for all Business Units within the John Keells Group and ensuring that the John Keells Group functions within defined legal parameters and ethical standards in achieving its business goals.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Drafting /reviewing all types of commercial contracts and related documentation;
  • Handling conveyancing and notarial work, including carrying out title searches, drafting and attesting of title deeds, lease agreements and other notarial documentation;
  • Conducting legal research to analyze and interpret Laws, Regulations, and judicial decisions
  • Handling Company Secretarial and Intellectual Property work
  • Litigation related work including representing the Business Units in Courts, Tribunals and other Regulatory and Government Authorities

 

The Applicant should:

  • Be an Attorney-at-Law (kindly confirm date of enrollment). Holding a Degree in Law would be considered as an added advantage.
  • Have adequate knowledge and work experience in the above-mentioned areas with 5 – 8 years’ post qualifying experience  
  • Be a Notary Public with a license to practice in Colombo in the English Language (mandatory)
  • Possess the ability to work independently and under pressure, meet deadlines and take on challenges with a positive attitude
  • Have a smart, pleasant and an outgoing personality with excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Possess strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Prior experience in a similar corporate or law firm specializing in the above areas would be an added advantage
