Manager - Group Sustainability, Enterprise Risk Management and Group Initiatives

The selected candidate will be responsible to work with the team to drive the ESG agenda for John Keells Holdings Plc. He / She will work and collaborate across the Group / Internal ESG committee to facilitate and influence initiatives to reach the ESG goals and outcomes. The role holder will also provide timely and regular updates to communicate the impact of these initiatives to internal leaders and external audiences / stakeholders in the ecosystem and will require an understanding of ESG trends / reporting frameworks as related to a diversified organisation operating in Sri Lanka.

Job Responsibilities

Sustainability:


•    Managing the quarterly sustainability data collation and analysis process for all companies the Group and identifying trends and areas of improvements. 
•    Preparation of quarterly sustainability reports and dashboards for the top management, sectors and for external reporting requirements. 
•    Preparation of the sustainability sections of the Group’s integrated annual report using GRI standards, ESG and integrated reporting frameworks. 
•    Creating a sustainability culture through facilitating knowledge sharing and awareness creation innovative engagement. 
•    Conducting the internal sustainability audits assurance process in all BUs across the group. 
•    Work with sustainability auditors to ensure accuracy of data and initiatives, and procedures and follow best practices in reporting. 
•    Monitor the Group’s Sustainability goals and KPI’s and identify and drive sustainability initiatives within the Group. 
•    Continuous improvement of the sustainability performance of the group of companies. 

 

Projects:

 

  1.  Sustainability Data collection platform
  • Working with sustainability system developer to improve the online sustainability data platform.
  • Understand the business requirement and give input on features, information and functionality that is required. 

 

     2. JKH ESG framework 

  • Lead an internal team in the institutionalization of the Group’s ESG framework along with third-party consultants.
  • Work as the central connect and work closely with a pillar lead upon development of the framework to drive the agenda across the group, continuously monitoring the progress. 

 

Group Initiatives:


•    Preparation of Request for Proposals (RFP’s) and evaluation of supplier proposals for Group-wide sourcing and preparation supplier contracts 
•    Analysis of bids and negotiating with suppliers on better pricing structures and terms and conditions 


Risk Management:


•    Assisting in carrying out risk reviews for all companies of the Group. 

Person Specifications

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree or relevant equivalent qualification. Tertiary qualification in engineering (Environment, Energy, Mechanical, Chemical) / environmental science / economics / social science / law will be an added advantage. 
  • Candidate needs experienced in GRI reporting standards and experience in SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board) and Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) standard would be an added advantage. 
  •  At least 5-10 years of experience in Corporate Sustainability and / or Sustainability Consulting and / or related area.
  • Excellent verbal / written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Data management, analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex results in a simplified manner. 
  • Project management and process improvement experience
