Manager - Human Resources

Mackinnon Mackenzie & Company of Ceylon Limited is a fully owned subsidiary of John Keells Holdings PLC, is engaged in providing advanced operational support to the Port of Colombo. Strategically positioned to play a transformative role in port operations, and we are now looking for a dedicated professional to join us as a Human Resource Manager.

What you need to do

  • Promote and sustain a strong culture of health and safety, taking proactive measures to reduce lost-time and medically treated injuries.
  • Identify and fulfill manpower requirements by recruiting, training, and retaining skilled ITV operators and admin staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Drive employee development and engagement by implementing structured training plans, monitoring learning hours, and fostering a motivated workforce.
  • Manage employee relations and industrial relations in a professional manner, maintaining harmony and ensuring zero disruptions to the operation.
  • Oversee cost-effective welfare programs and implement rewards and recognition systems that enhance performance, employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Improve productivity and organizational efficiency by adopting modern HR technologies and ensuring HR services are delivered swiftly in a digital environment.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or a professional qualification in HRM (SHRM/CIPD/CIPM).
  • A master’s degree will be considered an added advantage.
  • Proven 3–5 years of experience in a managerial HR role.
  • Hands-on experience in employee relations, industrial relations and labour law including working with employee associations.
  • Experience in port operations will be a distinct advantage.
