Senior Executive/Assistant Manager - Group Sustainability, Enterprise Risk Management & GI

The selected candidate will be reporting to the part of the central sustainability team for the group. He/She will work alongside a team that would collaborate across the Group / Internal ESG committee to facilitate and influence initiatives to reach the ESG goals and outcomes. The role holder will also provide timely and regular updates to communicate the impact of these initiatives to internal leaders and external audiences / stakeholders in the ecosystem and will require an understanding of ESG trends / reporting frameworks as related to a diversified organisation operating in Sri Lanka.
Sustainability
- Working in the team involved in the implementation of the SLFRS S1 and S2 standard’s requirement across the John Keells Group
- Will be involved in the preparation of the sustainability sections of the Group’s integrated annual report aligned to the SLFRS reporting requirements also supported by the GRI standard, ESG and integrated reporting frameworks.
- Will be the sustainability team representative for one or more of the Group’s ESG strategy pillars and working alongside the steering committees.
- Creating innovative programs to drive sustainability communications and culture initiatives.
- Conduct internal sustainability audits for business units across the group.
- Work with sustainability auditors to ensure accuracy of data and initiatives, and procedures and follow best practices in reporting.
- Set up monitoring mechanisms to drive the Group’s Sustainability goals and KPIs.
- Continuous improvement of the sustainability performance of the group of companies.
Group Initiatives
- Preparation of Request for Proposals (RFP’s) and evaluation of supplier proposals for Group-wide sourcing and preparation supplier contracts
- Analysis of bids and negotiating with suppliers on better pricing structures and terms and conditions.
Risk Management
• Assisting in carrying out risk reviews for all companies of the Group.
Person Specifications
- Possess a bachelor’s degree or relevant equivalent qualification. (Environment, Energy, Mechanical, Chemical) / environmental science / economics / social science / law/ Supply chain and logistics) Tertiary qualification in a related field will be an added advantage
- Candidates need experience in GRI reporting standards and sound understanding of the SLFRS S1 and S2 reporting standard requirement, experience or understanding of the SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board) and Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) standard and/or other sustainability related disclosure standards.
- At least 2 years of experience in Corporate Sustainability and / or Sustainability Consulting and / or related areas
- Excellent verbal / written communication and interpersonal skills
- Data management, analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex results in a simplified manner
- Project management and process improvement experience
