Executive - Procurement
The company is seeking a suitable candidate to fill the position of Executive - Procurement. The position exists to handle shipping desk of consumer sector, handling local purchases, negotiation of rates with shipping / clearance agents, negotiate terms with overseas suppliers; liaise with various government institutes (Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Department of Animal Health and production Peradeniya, Sugar Cane institute, Excise department, exchange control, customs, SLSI etc., Facilitate custom formalities; coordinate & supervise CCS procurement within statutory and organizational guidelines with the objective of completing the entire import process.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely deliveries.
- Effective communication with external stakeholders to address and resolve the matters of shipment delays/ lost goods/ damaged shipments.
- Timely updates across the internal stakeholders about the shipment’s status and deliveries. Ensure that all shipping activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and legal regulations.
- Implement cost-effective and time-efficient shipping methods by negotiating rates with shipping & clearance agents. Keep track of shipments and compile reports for management review.
- Ensure that shipping invoices are correct and accurate before submitting to finance department.
- Manage database with all relevant cost components / reconcile and present to management.
- Calculate the duties, taxes, and tariffs for import shipments based on customs regulations and product classification.
- Create Purchase orders in SAP for all service-related payments (Freight Partners, Clearing Agents).
- Prepare documentation for all foreign payments and present them to bank (Coordinate with groups Treasury team for forex rates).
- Maintain databases for all payments and proceed on time payment for suppliers. Prepare forecast of Forex and share with finance team. Follow up and close the Container Deposits/ bank guarantees.
Person Specifications
- BSc in Material Management/Procurement preferably with minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Business understanding in material management knowledge in a FMCG Company.
- Sound knowledge of Import procedures, practices & new trends, purchasing & stock maintenance techniques.
- Planning and control skills, organizing skills, communication skills, interpersonal relations, motivational skills, 'Quality' mind-set and strategic ability
- Ability to quickly adjust to changing business requirements,
