Executive Finance - Accounts Recievable
Mackinnons Travels (Pvt.) Limited was established in 1971 and gained International Air Transport Association (IATA) status in 1976. The company is a subsidiary of one of the largest conglomerates in Sri Lanka, the John Keells Group. MTL provides its customers with outbound travel related services which includes issuing of air tickets, hotel reservations, holiday packages, assistance in visa formalities to name a few.
Job Responsibilities
- Generate and issue invoices for corporate clients, airlines, travel agents, and direct customers in line with company and industry standards.
- Monitor outstanding balances, proactively follow up on overdue payments, and manage the end-to-end collections process.
- Perform detailed reconciliations of customer accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues by liaising with internal teams and external partners.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date receivable records in the accounting system, including handling foreign currency transactions.
- Coordinate closely with sales, ticketing, reservations, and operations teams to ensure accuracy in invoicing and timely resolution of receivable-related queries.
- Prepare customer statements, ageing analysis, collection reports, and receivable dashboards for management review.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations including VAT, SSCL, WHT, and other statutory requirements applicable to customer billing.
- Support financial audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit queries.
- Contribute to process improvements, strengthening internal controls and enhancing the efficiency of the receivables function.
Person Specifications
- Part or full qualification in CA Sri Lanka, CIMA, ACCA, or a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Minimum 3–4 years of hands-on experience in accounts receivable or general accounting, ideally within the travel, airline, or hospitality industry.
- Strong working knowledge of receivables processes, invoicing, collections, and reconciliations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP/accounting systems (SAP, Oracle or similar).
- Exceptional attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage confidently with clients and internal teams.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
