Assistant Manager - OH&S

John Keells Logistics (Pvt) Ltd (JKLL), a fully owned subsidiary of John Keells Holdings PLC, is a leading Integrated Logistics Services Provider with over 12 years of experience in operating and managing Multi User Logistics fulfillment centers, Diverse transport fleets, Temperature controlled logistics and Supply chain consultancy services spanning across multiple industry verticals.

This role aims at executing all the initiatives laid down by the OH&S organization to in its efforts to establish health and safety culture in the new organization to ensure zero harm to people and property of the organization and all other stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

• Organizational assessment in terms of health and safety culture and operational requirement.
• Crafting a robust OH&S plan and its implementation.
• Conduct routine safety audits, inspections, and hazard identification activities and close gaps.
• Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine causes and implement preventive actions.
• Prepare and maintain accurate incident reports and share with the entire organization to avoid repetition.
• Organize and deliver OH&S training programs for employees and stakeholders.
• Promote awareness of workplace safety standards and protocols.
• Work with cross-functional teams to address safety issues and implement corrective measures.
• Act as a point of contact for OH&S concerns within the organization.
• Act as the adviser to the top management team on OH&S priorities and initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all group (JKH), sector and company policies and procedures, Sri Lanka accounting standards, industry requirements, statutory and regulatory requirements.

Person Specifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Full or part qualification in OH&S (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) is mandatory.
• A master’s degree will be an added advantage.
• Proven 3 - 5 years of experience at a similar capacity.
• Hands on experience in crafting and implementing comprehensive OH & S plan with proven results.
• Strong understanding of OH&S regulations and practices, especially in cargo handling / heavy equipment operations / logistics / port operations / heavy industry will be an added advantage.
• Excellent analytical skills for risk assessment, risk mitigation and problem-solving.
• Proficient in delivering training, preparing reports, and communicating with diverse teams
