This role aims at executing all the initiatives laid down by the OH&S organization to establish robust health and safety culture in the new organization to ensure zero harm to people and property of the organization and all other stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct routine safety audits, inspections, and hazard identification activities and close gaps.
- Monitor and enforce safety standards within the operation.
- Conduct regular safety briefings for ITV operators.
- Design and implement safe traffic flow plans for ITVs within the terminal and port.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and conduct periodic emergency drills involving ITV operators and support staff.
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine causes and implement preventive actions.
- Prepare and maintain accurate incident reports and share with the entire organization to avoid repetition.
- Organize and deliver OH&S training programs for employees and stakeholders.
- Promote awareness of workplace safety standards and protocols.
- Work with cross-functional teams to address safety issues and implement corrective measures.
- Ensure compliance with all group (JKH), sector and company policies and procedures, Sri Lanka accounting standards, industry requirements, statutory and regulatory requirements.
Person Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Full or part qualification in OH&S (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) is mandatory.
- Proven 2 - 3 years of experience at a similar capacity.
- Hands on experience in implementing OH & S initiatives with proven results.
- Strong understanding of OH&S regulations and practices, especially in cargo handling / heavy equipment operations / logistics / port operations / heavy industry will be an added advantage.
- Excellent analytical skills for risk assessment, risk mitigation and problem-solving.
- Proficient in delivering training, preparing reports, and communicating to the front-line staff.
