The Job Role:
The person will be assisting the Manager-Legal to oversee legal operations of the Company and to support in coordination with regulatory authorities, external legal counsels, and business units.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Draft and review commercial contracts, agreements, and other legal documents and assisting the Manager - Legal to finalize legal contracts on time.
- Conduct legal research on legal issues, such as corporate law, contracts, employment law, intellectual property with the guidance of the Manager – Legal.
- Conducting title search on selected locations for expansion of branch network of the Company and to execute notarial documents such as leases, tenancy agreements and assignments with the assistance and guidance of the Manger – Legal.
- Responsible for registration and follow up on acceptance and publication of Company trademarks and logos with the National Intellectual Property Office and to update the registers accordingly.
- Assisting the Manager – Legal in managing litigation and other legal disputes, including coordinating with outside counsels & consultants and ensure up to date to record maintenance in relation to the litigation matters and case files.
- Maintain and ensure overall record keeping of the legal division and ensure accuracy of the same. This amongst others will include maintenance and following up of contracts, legal documents of the Company and various registers maintained by the Legal division.
Qualifications and Experience
- Attorney-at-Law (Sri Lanka), Bachelor’s degree in Law is preferred along with Notary Public License in Colombo (Commissioner of oaths would be an added advantage).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience post taking oaths (preferably in corporate and commercial industry).
- Sound knowledge on relevant laws and regulations, contractual obligations and Sri Lanka legal system.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail is mandatory.
- Strong adaptability, work under pressure and capacity to work in fast-paced environments.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
