Executive – Unstructured Claims

The Job Role:

The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting in prompt ,effective and fair settlement of all valid unstructured claims as per the limits established in the delegation of authority, providing a speedy and efficient service in settling claims and proper follow up on all pending claims at Union Assurance

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Support the unstructured claims department by collecting accurate information and required documentation to facilitate timely claim processing.
  • Review medical reports, treatment records, police reports, and related documentation to assess claims.
  • Process unstructured claims, including critical illness, disability, and death claims, within delegated authority limits while ensuring policy conditions are met.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing and completion of all assigned claims.
  • Monitor and track claim progress while maintaining proper follow-up on pending claims
  • Maintain claim records, working files, and correspondence for reference and audit purposes
  • Ensure client and claim information is accurately recorded in relevant systems and databases.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and resolve issues in line with established guidelines and service standards.
  • Achieve individual performance targets and service level expectations for assigned claims
  • Provide exceptional customer service to policyholders and other stakeholders.
  • Identify potentially fraudulent claims and escalate concerns to the relevant leadership team.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and quality standards.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance / Business Administration or any other relevant discipline from a recognized university or institute
  • Minimum 2 years of overall experience within the insurance industry
  • Knowledge of unstructured claims handling, including critical illness, disability, death claims, medical procedures, and related insurance practices
  • CIP - SLII or Part / Full Qualification in Dip -CII / AIII is essential.
  • Good understanding and knowledge about competitor products and practices, trends & developments in the life insurance market in Sri Lanka
  • Broad knowledge in Microsoft office applications
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision, multi-task and work under pressure
  • A self-motivated individual as well as a team player.
